Aims & Purposes

Totally intended for the children of Displaced Karen Fellowship. And also aimed for those children to have greater manner and character, to be new generations of future Karen Revolution and to continue to carry out and take responsibilities from their olders. Therefore I have organized those children to establish this school. This school is not a religion school, it is Karen National School. Because of this school representing all Karen Nationals, most of the subjects which are concerning to our Karen Nationals. I have named this school "Kwel Ka Baung" for Displaced Karen Fellowship children. The school located in Mae Sot Township, Thailand and started teaching since seven years ago. Because Grand Father Pu Mahn Bala Sein(a) Kwel Ka Baung leadership, all the parents were discussed and made a decision to form a "Kwel Ka Baung" school......

Due to various human rights violations and four offensive launched by Junta Force, many ethnic Karen People are displace on the Thai-Burmese border. These people have had to suffer systematic harassment and violent abuse, such as forced labor and constantly various forms of brutal torture, by the Burmese Army. Their living conditions deteriorated and they finally, it was not possible for them to survive, if they continued to live in Burma. Therefore, they had to flee to Thailand and live as illegal migrant workers to earn their living to survive. They came to Thailand with their families, consequently, the children of these people are deprived from educational rights, and they have no future, so DKF formed a primary school for them in 1990 of the school year and now became a secondary school…….
